Saxophone ensemble

Written in October 2008, Ket is comprised of three main sections - opening with a chant-like refrain and melodies that interweave between the different parts, these opening themes become intensified in the middle section in an exploration of varying rhythmic grooves, and then modified in their harmonic use in the slower final section.

Ket aims to show the versatility of the saxophone in timbre and style, journeying through quasi-medieval chorales, flowing lyrical lines, heavy funk-based grooves and reflective, soaring melodic qualitiesn also be repeated to accommodate an extended sopranino solo and / or solos by the soprano saxophone players.
